Juno's God

What is Juno's God?

Juno's God is a story I'm writing, set in an original setting where gods are real so long as you believe in them. It was supposed to be a short story about two characters having a personal journey, but it's since escalated into a worldbuilding project that I'm quite invested in.

This page will eventually be a semi-central hub for the story and tidbits about its world. How exactly that's going to work, I'm still trying to figure out. For now, have the basic primer, and if you feel like this world interests you, feel free to ask me things about it on Tumblr. Maybe I'll actually make it move past WIP if people pester me.

When Juno's mother passed away, she left him three gifts. One was her revolver, for the Highlands are rife with banditry, and it's not safe to travel unarmed. Second was a prayer charm with inscriptions in a foreign script - a strange thing to have, for Highlanders are suspicious of gods, and look down on worship.

Third was her god, a dying thing in need of worship.

As he travels to neighbouring Roshi'in in search of the god's origin, Juno must come to terms with the grief for his mother's passing, with a past she never revealed, and with the strange relationship that is having a god of one's own. And to make matters worse, he's not the only one interested in the god's murky history...

As the threads he follows slowly unravel, Juno must face a decision: what does he truly believe? And by extension, what will Juno's God stand for?
